2011 Here we go.........

So, honestly it was just kind of coincidence that the new direction and focus of my business is happening at the start of 2011.

Around the end of October the husband and I started discussing what I wanted to get out of my business.  At that time, I had a bunch of steady clients and a continually propagating clothes rack of alterations to be completed.  We agreed that once I finished the work I was in the middle of, we would discuss things.  I also agreed at that time that I would not take on any new clients or alterations.

As 2010 came to a close so did my racks and racks of work.  Hubs and I sat down and made a list.  We discussed work goals, desires, wants, etc.

And here we are ready to begin 2011!

When I officially launched my business the idea was to focus on pattern design.  My passion is in showing people that anyone can sew as long as the instructions are clear. Since the launch I have been distracted and put off course by other work and it is time to refocus!

So the next 12 months are going to focus on my tutorials, patterns, and sewing tips.

Every Tuesday there will be a new tutorial up.

Every Thursday there will be a new sewing tip up.

Every month I will be releasing a new PDF pattern of my own.

Every month I will be reviewing the patterns of others that I put together.

Why am I telling you this?  First of all, I want someone to come see these posts!  Secondly, I hope that by sharing this here it will keep me accountable.

Now, if anyone knows where I can get a cool widget that tracks my progress on this, that would be awesome!  I was thinking something like the widget they showed on the movie, Julie and Julia....So I could enter my progress like:

Weeks     52
Tutorials     1
Tips           1

and update as so:

Weeks     51
Tutorials     2
Tips           2

I think this year will be the year of fun for Mauby's!  :)

I too am sorry I missed this post - it explains so much! Congrats on your new venture and good luck! I did alterations for friends and family for years for free - not anymore, my time is too valuable to give it away!
